Famille Helfrich gears up for first portfolio tasting

Published:  12 December, 2018

Famille Helfrich, the premium on-trade and independents arm of Les Grands Chais de France, will launch its first portfolio tasting in the UK next year.

The tasting, poised to take place in February in Birmingham, will feature up to 300 wines from the Famille Helfrich portfolio, destined exclusively for the on-trade and independent merchant channels with current vintages presented wherever possible.

In addition, the tasting will feature sections dedicated to crémant, vegetarian, and organic wines, O% abv and all format sizes.

There will also be a round table discussion on crémant and a culinary demonstration by Calvet brand ambassador and local Michelin starred chef, Glynn Purnell, to celebrate the launch of the new Calvet range for the on-trade and independents.

The aim was to show the on-trade and independents that Famille Helfrich could supply customers exclusively with everything from premium to house, from traditional to on-trend, not only from France but from across our international portfolio, said Chris Davies, on-trade and independents director.

“Our size and infrastructure mean that we can consolidate our on-trade wines at Les Grands Chais de France HQ in Alsace. They can then be ordered on mixed pallets with the minimum order being just one half a pallet, making us the ideal supplier for both on-trade and independents,” he said.

At the event, which will target new and existing trade customers with a special day on for sommeliers and restaurateurs, wines from more than 50 domains will be on show, alongside wines from Famille Helfrich’s recently acquired properties in Germany, Spain and Hungary and the New World.

Each section will be presented by Famille Helfrich winemakers for that particular region, including Pierre-Jean Sauvion who heads up winemaking in the Loire and Nicholas Haffelin who is in charge in Alsace. New World Winemaker, Nick Butler will also be on hand with a range of wines from the New World where Famille Helfrich is currently “investing heavily”.
