Madames Jo & Jo return to Harpers

Published:  23 July, 2008

Joanne Simon and Jo Burzynska are to rejoin Harpers as South Africa and New Zealand columnists respectively.
Joanne, who was born and raised in Johannesburg, joined Harpers in 2002 as a staff writer, after a stint in Cape Town as a political reporter.

She returned to South Africa in 2003 to work as a feature writer and copy editor for WINE magazine.

Jo B began her wine-trade career at Fuller's in central London, before training as a journalist and working for the Financial Times, BBC World, and then Harpers.

In early 2004, she moved to New Zealand and began working for The Crossings winery on the marketing side. She now works as a freelancer for consumer and trade magazines such as Wine NZ.

Burzynska said: It's great to be back at Harpers, albeit from some distance! And it's particularly exciting because this is the first column that Harpers has devoted specifically to New Zealand.

There's so much fascinating stuff going on in New Zealand at present that the column is going to be a joy to write and should make for interesting reading.'
