Pernod Ricard UK is further expanding the top end of its gin portfolio with leading Canadian brand Ungava.
The French spirits giant is hoping the gin’s distinctive yellow colour taken from plants and berries of Canada’s icy tundra will draw consumers, whose thirst for gin continues to drive growth in an already crowded segment.
“The explosion of gin in the UK has been driven by consumers seeking new and visually appealing serves. Gin has become the largest growth contributor to total spirits over the last five years, with growth being driven by the super premium sector. With innovation key to growth acceleration, Ungava is the perfect addition to our existing range that capitalises on the Super Premium Gin trend and current demand,” said Chris Ellis, commercial director for Pernod Ricard UK.
According to the IWSR, Ungava was the top selling gin in Canada in 2017.
The yellow-coloured gin is distilled in small batches, using traditional techniques and 100% natural herbs and berries indigenous to Canada's Arctic region.
Ungava will sit alongside Plymouth Gin and Monkey 47 in Pernod Ricard’s range.
