Redevined Wines to host LGBT wine event in Bordeaux

Published:  24 July, 2018

In a first for the region, the town of Blaye in Bordeaux is to host a European Gay Wine Weekend from 18 to 21 October.

Billed as a “brand new networking and socialising event for the LGBT community in Europe”, the event is offering a mix of food, music, culture, chateau visits, yoga and winemaker dinners, with wine at its core.

The initiative is the brainchild of London-based organisers Redevined Wines, a recent start up wine importer and distributor set up in 2017 by co-directors Patrick Bernie and Anthony Cunliffe.

“Our goal as a wine company is to connect people with the stories behind our wine. What better way than to bring them to Bordeaux, where they will get to experience wine country during harvest time,” said Bernie.

“Not only that, but both my business partner and I also love the idea of bringing together gay, lesbian, bi, and transgender folk to give them a space that is open and welcoming, to network and develop friendships - all while getting to know a little more about wine in this beautiful setting.”

Redevined Wines focuses on wines from Bordeaux, supplying into the UK on-trade and independent merchant businesses, including the wines of Cunliffe’s own Etalon estate in Blaye.
