Digby’s cool climate fizz makes first foray into Scotland

Published:  24 April, 2018

Digby Fine English has made its first foray into Scotland via an exclusive distribution deal with Alexander Wines.

The deal, which makes Digby one of a few English sparkling wine producers with a dedicated distribution focus for Scotland, includes the Scottish fine wine merchant launching three of Digby’s main styles of sparkling wines to both the on and off-trade.

Available now, the trio comprises Digby’s flagship 2010 Vintage Brut (rrp: £39.99); Leander Pink Non Vintage Brut (rrp: £32.99) and its Non Vintage Brut (rrp: £30.99).

Initial customers include Ox and Finch and The Good Spirits Company - both based in Glasgow.

With its many “famous and luxurious” hospitality venues and a thriving wine scene, Scotland offered a promising market for English produced fine sparkling wine, said Trevor Clough, CEO, Digby Fine English.

“We have been very keen on creating a partnership with an exceptional, dedicated distributor in our fellow home nation of Scotland, and we could not be more delighted to now be working with Alexander Wines,” he said.

Glasgow-based Alexander Wines said it was “thrilled” to be working with Digby, particularily at “such an exciting time for English sparkling wine”.

The Digby wines are a fantastic addition to our portfolio and we're looking forward to build on Digby's success with our customers in Scotland,” said company director, Victoria Beckett.

The new distribution deal comes as Digby gears up to launch its second tranche of fundraising in a bid to raise £120,000.

The premium English wine producer is hoping to source the investment via a peer-to-business funding solution where the funds are secures against the value of the wine itself, which it used last year to successfully raise £400,000.
