Comité Champagne signs up as WSET Corporate Patron

Published:  10 April, 2018

Comité Champagne has signed up as a bronze level Corporate Patron of the Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET).

The trade association, which represents the interests of independent Champagne growers and houses, said it had partnered with WSET in recognition of the important role education plays in its mission to “promote wines of Champagne and raise awareness of the appellation”.

“Wine education is a key element of the wine value chain and Comité Champagne is committed to reinforce its actions with key partners, including WSET,” said Vincent Perrin, general manager, Comité Champagne.

Taking place with immediate effect, the partnership takes WSET’s number of Corporate Patrons to 48.

Ian Harris, WSET chief executive, said: “As a region that attracts significant international attention, Champagne’s growers and houses have an important role to play in educating the wine world on what makes its wines unique to protect its appellation.”

The Corporate Patrons programme aims to ensure WSET receives essential funding to allow it to continue to develop its courses and qualifications, as well as maintain and advance its digital learning facilities and online global campus.

In turn, the mutual partnerships position organisations alongside the highly regarded international industry body and help them add value to their own business by maximising the benefits of WSET education and training.
