Samantha Caporn MW to join The Wine Gang as Jane Parkinson exits

Published:  19 December, 2017

The Wine Gang has revealed Samantha Caporn MW will be joining the fold from January 2018, taking over from BBC Saturday Kitchen’s Jane Parkinson.

The arrival of Caporn, who holds extensive wine industry credentials, would bring an “exciting fresh dynamic” to the face of The Wine Gang, said co-member Anthony Rose.

“We have long admired Sam’s terrific enthusiasm and professionalism and we have no doubt that she will bring her own brand of commitment and personality to the team,” he said.

Caporn’s industry credentials include being a Master of Wine for which she won the Madame Bollinger Medal for Outstanding Achievement in the Practical Paper (tasting) examination.

As well as running her own consultancy business, Caporn is a presenter on BBC1’s Saturday Kitchen Live and  is an experienced judge in international competitions. Over the course of her 20-year career in the wine trade she has worked in buying roles and on the editorial team of a consumer wine magazine.

Commenting on her decision to leave following her seven year stint as part of The wine Gang, Parkinson said: “It has been the hugest privilege to work alongside Anthony, David and Joanna, I regard them as some of my closest wine trade colleagues. However, I look forward to seeing The Wine Gang continue to thrive in the years ahead and I wish Sam well and hope she has as much fun being part of the Gang as I did.”
