Waitrose brings back ‘Drinks Festival’ for the second year running

Published:  26 September, 2017

Waitrose has announced it is bringing back its ‘Drinks Festival’, which the retailer ran for the first time last year.

The festival, covering wines, beers and spirits available from the supermarket, will be held at County Hall, London from the 17th to 19th November, 2017, with up to 4,000 customers expected to attend and more than 200 Waitrose producers taking part.

Split into four sessions across the weekend, themed rooms will be dedicated to each main category - wine, cider, beer and spirits.

In addition, the festival will include various masterclasses, workshops and Waitrose Cookery School demonstrations, with last year’s ‘Make Your Own Gin’ workshop with distillers Audemus back due to “popular demand”, said Waitrose.

New for 2017 is an exclusive lounge where drinks personalities will make appearances and give talks throughout the weekend. Lounge customers will also be able to go on personalised wine walks with the Waitrose wine buying team.

Masterclasses will include: Guigal, Chateau Musar, Masi, Graham’s Port, Catena Malbec, The Chocolate Block, Asian Whiskies, Sipsmith, Hayman’s Gin, Wines of Rioja, Altos Las Hormigas, There’s a Beer For That, Yealands and Brooklyn Lager.

Confirmed suppliers with stands at the show include Pedrino, Sipsmith, Peroni, Les Dauphins, Masi and Catena.
