Treasury Wine Estates (TWE) today appointed Tom King as its new European MD following the sudden passing of Dan Townsend.
King, who has held several senior leadership positions at TWE since joining the business four years ago, will take on the role with immediate effect. His latest position with TWE was as head of global travel retail & on premise channels, which will now be taken on by Barry Galloway - current director global customers - on premise.

"Tom is an experienced senior sales executive and over the past four years he has positioned TWE as a category leader in the global travel retail channel."
King Joined TWE in 2013 as its commercial director for global travel retail before taking on responsibility for the company's Central & Eastern Europe business in 2015.

Former European MD Dan Townsend, who had worked in the drinks trade for the past 30 years, died in California less than two weeks ago.
During his six years with TWE, Townsend had become "highly regarded and deeply respected", not just by the European team but across the global business as an "inspirational and much loved leader", said Clarke.
"Our deepest condolences go out to Dan's family and loved ones," he said, adding Townsend had been a role model for many and would continue to be "a big part of our business".
