Two Brits on the list of four new inductees to the MW hall of fame

A co-founder of Noble Rot and a Marks & Spencer buyer are among four new names which have been added to the illustrious list of MWs.

Noble Rot's Mark Andrew, Emma Dawson from the UK, Jeremy Cukierman from France, and David Forer MW from the US have been inducted in the MW hall of fame, bringing the total number of Masters of Wine to 356 across 29 countries.

Andrew was recently ranked 14th on our first ever edition of Harpers Hot 100 list of the most influential people in the on-trade.

He is the co-founder of Noble Rot magazine launched in 2013 and the wine bar/restaurant of the same name which followed two years later.

Before launching Noble Rot, Andrew was head buyer at London-based retailer and importer Roberson Wine for eight years, where he developed an interest in the traditional, artisanal, terroir-driven wines.

Emma Dawson MW has strong links with the off-trade, most recently with Marks & Spencer and previously Sainsbury's.

In the seven years since she joined M&S she has worked in several buying areas across wine and spirits.

She now specialises in lesser known wine regions, buying in wines from areas like Greece, Lebanon, Israel, Georgia, Turkey, Bolivia, Japan, India and Brazil.

She was also behind the launch of a new type of wine tasting called the Naked Grape for charity.

Based in Paris, Jeremy Cukierman MW runs two wine shops in Paris, a wine event agency and a wine school as well as co-founding Des Mets des Vins.

San Francisco resident David Forer MW has become increasingly active in the wine industry since passing the WSET Diploma with Merit in 2011, and is now known for collaborating on wine projects such as tours of Napa and consulting for on-premise wine programs.

All four passed the three-stage MW examination which includes theory and practical modules, and the submission of a final research paper, which is an in-depth study on a wine related topic from any area of the sciences, arts, humanities, or social sciences.
