Spier extends vintage selection range

Published:  18 January, 2007

Leading South African producer, Spier, has extended the award-winning Vintage Selection range to include a single varietal Cabernet Sauvignon.

The 2005 Vintage Selection Cabernet Sauvignon is to be listed by multiple grocer Morrisons at 8.99.

The 2005 Vintage Selection Cabernet Sauvignon is sourced from select parcels of fruit from vineyards throughout the Western Cape. Produced by group winemaker Frans Smit, the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation and is aged in a combination of French and American oak with only the finest barrels selected for fining and bottling.

The 2007 Vintage Selection Sauvignon Blanc has also been added to Morrisons South African offer. A blend of 100 pr cent Sauvignon Blanc sourced from vineyard sites in Stellenbosch, Durbanville and the cool climate Elgin region, the wine is aged on primary lees for three months following cold fermentation.

The premium positioned Vintage Selection range also features a single varietal Sauvignon Blanc, Shiraz and Pinotage in addition to a number of innovative blends including Shiraz Mouvedre Viognier and Malbec Cabernet Franc Petit Verdot.

The 2007 Vintage Selection Sauvignon Blanc and 2005 Vintage selection Shiraz Mouvedre Viognier are available through multiple specialist Threshers, priced at 8.99 and 11.99 respectively.
