ITV's 'The Wine Show' presenter Joe Fattorini is set to run the Médoc Marathon and aims to raise £5,000 for drinks charity The Benevolent.
"We couldn't miss this opportunity to raise money - and awareness - of the remarkable work of The Benevolent. All the while wearing silly clothes and running round the Médoc in the sun," said Fattorini.
The marathon will be held on September 10, 2016.
The Médoc will be the backdrop to the 26.2 mile long race which is favourite among wine trade runners, not just because of the location. Since 1984 the race's atmosphere is more like a festival rather than a gruelling comeptition, with many of the runners dressing up in fancy dresses.
Fattorini will participate in the run as part of the filming of one of the espisodes of 'The Wine Show' series. While it will be fun, it is also for a great cause.
Fattorini said: "It's possible you know someone who's been helped by The Benevolent, even if you aren't aware of it. A lot of the work they do is quiet, sometimes quite modest, but with a huge impact. But many people in our industry don't know that help is there, and how much it could help them. Even change their lives."
"We are extremely grateful to Joe for deciding to support us in this way. He is one of the trade's true characters and I am looking forward to seeing what fancy dress outfit the producers of 'The Wine Show' will suggest for him to wear," said David Cox, chief executive of The Benevelent.
