Morrison Bowmore CEO Keiller joins board of The Last Drop

Published:  20 January, 2016

The Last Drop Distillers has appointed Mike Keiller to its board directors, the company has announced.

Keiller will be responsible for the company's financial and corporate strategy, including all financial planning.

He joins The Last Drop from Morrison Bowmore, where he was chief executive for 14 years, overseeing a brand portfolio that included Auchentoshan, Bowmore, Glen Garioch and McClelland's.

Keiller's other professional experience includes 14 years at the former Guinness plc, and a spell at BT UK as director of financial planning and control.

The Last Drop, which describes itself as the world's most exclusive spirits company, was founded in 2008 by industry veterans James Espey, Tom Jago and Peter Fleck.

Between them, the founders have created some of the world's most iconic and successful drinks brands, including Johnnie Walker Blue Label, Malibu and Baileys Irish Cream.

The company's raison d'etre is to seek out rare and sometimes forgotten parcels of high-quality spirits - primarily - and bring them to market.

Keiller said: "The Last Drop is finding and creating an exceptional collection of spirits, whilst also proving itself as a strong business model that's entrenched in exclusivity, craft and excellence.

"I'm relishing the opportunity to lead on the company's corporate strategy and development at this stage of its growth and am thoroughly looking forward to being part of its passionate and tight-knit team of true spirits pioneers."

Espey, chairman at The Last Drop, said: "Like all of The Last Drop Distillers team, Mike has a fantastic breadth of drinks industry experience, showing what he's capable of during 14 successful years as chief executive of Morrison Bowmore Distillers.

"His record of delivering strong business and financial results makes us confident that his knowledge and vision will play an integral role in driving the company forward as we look to expand through 2016 and beyond."
