Wines of Germany returns to Get It On for third year running

Published:  20 October, 2015

Wines of Germany has announced its third annual Get It On Tasting, to be held in November.

The tasting will take place at The Sampler in South Kensington, London, on November 4.

Over 100 wines will be available to taste on the day.

Some 80 of those wines will be from 30 undiscovered and currently unrepresented German producers selected in a preliminary tasting held in September.

A panel of experts sampled wines from over 60 wineries and whittled those down to the thirty that would best represent German wine in the UK market.

The tasting panel included Roger Jones of Michelin-starred restaurant The Harrow at Little Bedwyn, freelance journalist and wine blogger Matt Walls, the Winebird's Helena Nicklin, and freelance wine writer and educator Richard Hemming MW.

The criteria Wines of Germany asked producers to meet for entry were dry and medium-dry wines with an RRP of £8 to £15 which show the modern face of Germany.

The 30 wineries will be joined by 19 additional wines seeking representation which are part of the Wines of Germany Top 50 initiative.

Nicky Forrest, managing director of Wines of Germany UK, said: "Aimed at getting some excellent new wines onto wine lists across the UK, we're delighted to be bringing Get it On back again this year.

"It is exciting to see the diversity that Germany is producing nowadays - Riesling, Pinot Noir, Pinot Blanc and Silvaner made it through to the final selection."

The 2014 Get it On campaign resulted in five producers finding representation in the UK to date.
