Alsace Riesling gets Majestic listing after vote by store managers

Published:  01 September, 2015

A Riesling from Alsace has been added to the Majestic range after winning a poll of the group's 211 store managers.

Riesling Vieilles Vignes Cave de Hunawihr 2013 was chosen on the basis of votes cast by managers attending a tasting in the spring.

They also voted on the label design from a selection of six put forward by the producer.

Suzie Harrison, Majestic's Alsace buyer, said: "This is the first time that we've run a staff vote to select a new wine for the range.

"Our store teams really know their stuff. This old vine Alsatian Riesling is aromatic, with generous notes of lemon, lime and pear, and it really lingers on the finish."

The wine is in-store and online from today at £12.99 a bottle or £9.74 each when buying two. It is a limited parcel of 5,520 bottles.

The wine is the subject of an in-store tasting on Thursday.
