Coates & Seely English sparkling wine has switched its UK distribution
Co-owner Christian Seely, director of AXA Millésimes which owns a host of top Bordeaux chateaux including Pichon-Longueville as well as Portugal's Quinta do Noval, has been working with the supplier since 2009 on the Portuguese wines and felt they were the right partners.
The wine is owned by long term friends, financier Nicholas Coates and Seely, and was started with the aim of making England's finest sparkling wines from Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier on the chalky slopes of Hampshire's South Downs.
Seely said the relationship he has had with Gonzalez Byass UK, who have been distributing Quinta do Noval since 2009, gave him absolute confidence that they were the right partner for Coates and Seely. "I have much enjoyed working with GBUK's enthusiastic, friendly and dynamic team on building Noval's brand over the past few years and am very satisfied with the high quality of distribution we have achieved. I am delighted to begin work with them now on building the Coates and Seely brand in the UK, and I am certain they will do an excellent job."
Martin Skelton, managing director of Gonzalez Byass UK, said: "This is a vote of confidence in GBUK. And it's a great addition to our international portfolio of premium wines. Along with the exceptional Champagnes from Deutz and excellent Cava from Vilarnau, Coates & Seely takes our sparkling offer to a new level."
Gonzalez Byass UK also distributes Australia's Wirra Wirra; New Zealand's Jackson Estate; Quinta do Noval; Champagne Deutz; Spain's Undurraga, Bodegas Beronia, Vinas del Vero, Secastilla, Finca Constancia, Vilarnau, Fillaboa, Matarromera, Finca Moncloa, Tio Pepe, Croft, and Gonzalez Byass sherry.
