How was 2014 for you/your business?

Not bad at all, as we do wholesale/retail/web and a little agency - we cast a few nets over the side. Some have been particularly fruitful.

What do you think were the most significant things that happened/ issues/trends that occurred in 2014?

The bullying culture of the bigger retailers being exposed for what it is, lazy opportunism. Negotiate a good deal in the first place!

What opportunities are you most looking forward to working on in 2015?

  • Re-investing in our over-performing web site quite significantly
  • Continuing momentum with wholesale and retail

What are the biggest challenges facing the trade in 2015?

To make sure it keeps relevant and keeps engaging with the consumer honestly. Continuing the fight against those who seem intent on dumbing down the consumer with whopping discounts and lousy wine. A wine is not good just because it is 33% off or half price.

Who are the people/companies/retailers to watch in 2015?

The independent sector. Whilst the supermarkets take lumps out of each other and other big players are  stuck somewhat in the middle, there is real opportunity for the independents to push forward. The points of difference between the two have never been bigger or clearer.

What are you doing for Christmas and New Year?

Feeding and watering a lot of people, probably putting batteries in toys and kneeling on tiny pieces of Lego and screaming in agony!

What will be your favourite tipple over Christmas and New Year?

Burgundy and craft beer - that isn't a cocktail.

Favourite Christmas film?

Where Eagles Dare, not very Christmassy but there is snow?

Who am I kidding, I have a young son so will be lucky to get past Toy Story.

Ideal day out over Christmas period?

Not out, at home with the fire lit. Family, lots of food and perhaps a little wine.

What do you want most from Father Christmas?

A VAT and Duty holiday for a year please Santa. Thanks.

New Year resolution?

To wear knee pads when playing with Lego.
