Published:  27 January, 2014

International drinks firm Quintessential Brands, owner of G&J Distillers, has appointed Sophie Brown as group chief financial officer to boost its European growth plans.

Brown was previously CFO at Leeds Bradford International Airport, the Bridgepoint portfolio company, which she joined in 2008. Prior to this Sophie was deputy group financial controller for three years at Northern Foods,  one of the UK's largest own label and branded food producers, with over €1 billion in revenue. She qualified as a chartered accountant with PwC in London.

Sophie's role as CFO for the Quintessential Brands Group, which owns G&J Distillers, will encompass the Quintessential Brands operation based in Soho, London, as well as G&J Distillers (formerly G&J Greenall's) and Essential Drinks, both in Warrington, Cheshire.

Quintessential Brands says Brown's appointment is part of its ongoing strategy to create one of the leading European independent international spirits companies.

Quintessential Brands co-founder, Warren Scott, said: "With Sophie's experience in the FMCG sector, together with her broad exposure at senior level, she will be a valuable addition to our team and support our ambitious plans for the business."

Brown added: "I am delighted to be joining Quintessential Brands at this exciting stage in the group's expansion and I very much look forward to working as a team to drive the business forward to deliver our ambitious plans."

The Quintessential Brands portfolio includes Greenall's Original Gin, BLOOM Gin, Berkeley Square London Dry Gin, Opihr Oriental Spiced Gin and Toussaint Coffee Rum Liqueur which are all produced by G&J Distillers.
