Sotheby's wine retail store is selling 100 six bottle cases of iconic Californian wine, Opus One, as a one off collection starting today for only the next four days, with vintages spanning from 1997 to 2005, for $165,000.
Opus One, produced in the Napa Valley, was a joint venture between Robert Mondavi of the Robert Mondavi Winery and Baron Philippe de Rothschild of Château Mouton Rothschild, with its first vintage in 1979.
This is believed to be the largest collection of Opus One to be offered on the market, with large parcels of the 2002 and 2003 vintages being sold. The collection will be on the market for sale as whole only until November 15, after which the cases will then be offered separately.
