The finalists were each given four Champagnes to taste and were tasked with delivering a talk about the Champagne method, region, styles and food pairing.

Judges included Charles Metcalfe, president of the Association of Wine Educators; Antony Moss AIWS MW, strategic planning director, WSET; Nancy Gilchrist MW, course leader, Christie's Wine Education; Violaine de Caffarelli, oenologist and organiser of the competition, Comité Champagne; and Françoise Peretti, director of the Champagne Bureau.

Hall will represent the UK at the European final on October 24.
