UK representative chosen for Champagne Ambassador's Awards 2013

The Champagne Bureau has announced the winner of the Champagne Ambassador's Awards 2013 UK final, which recognises excellence in wine education and will see the winning candidate represent the UK in the European final later this month.

Tim Hall of Scala Wine was victorious at the final, which was held at the Westbury Hotel in London, while Neil Phillips, aka the Wine Tipster, and Angela Bawtree of Woodbury Management Consulting were the runners up.

The finalists were each given four Champagnes to taste and were tasked with delivering a talk about the Champagne method, region, styles and food pairing.

Judges included Charles Metcalfe, president of the Association of Wine Educators; Antony Moss AIWS MW, strategic planning director, WSET; Nancy Gilchrist MW, course leader, Christie's Wine Education; Violaine de Caffarelli, oenologist and organiser of the competition, Comité Champagne; and Françoise Peretti, director of the Champagne Bureau.

Hall will represent the UK at the European final on October 24.
