Cutty Sark to host the 'Cutty Cargo' tour starting in London

Published:  04 September, 2013

Cutty Sark is preparing to host a new event series, "Cutty Cargo", which looks to promote whisky to a younger audience with a mixture of live music, DJs and street food with a tour across major cities around the world starting in London on September 12.

The event will be held inside a giant reproduction of a wooden cargo crate, replicating the kind of crate used to smuggle Cutty Sark into the US 90 years ago.  The tour will target Cutty Sark's key audience of 25 years old and up. "This fundamentally changes the way we approach, serve, think and talk about our whisky, as 25 year olds think differently, act differently and want different things from life," said Jason Craig, the brand controller for Cutty Sark.

The launch event takes place in Elys Yard, Brick Lane, London on September 12 and will bring emerging artists and talent from around London together under one roof including music from Jessie Ware and DJ Duke Dumont, food from MEAT Liquor, cocktails by 69 Colebrooke Row, and a burlesque performance by Miss Polly Rae. Other artists include Tom Oxley's Photography and installations by Flat-e and It's Nice That.
