Joan Torrents quits Mitchells & Butlers for Enotria as head of wine buying

Published:  18 July, 2012

Enotria has poached Joan Torrents from Mitchells & Butlers to head up its wine buying operation.

Torrents new role as director of buying will see him oversee the existing five-strong buying team after holding the same role for the last three years at Mitchells & Butlers, the on-trade group with 1,600 restaurants and bars that includes All Bar One.

Mark Kemode, Enotria commercial director said: "We are delighted to welcome Joan as the new head of the Enotria buying team. He has fantastic wine roots and heritage through his family wine business in Spain, and a wealth of experience in UK buying positions."

Of particular interest to Enotria is his experience in building up an increasingly respected wine offer across the Mitchells & Butlers on-trade estate.

"This expertise will be of enormous benefit to Enotria as we continue to grow and refine our wine offering for the future. Joan joins an experienced, varied and dynamic team at a time when Enotria's horizons are very broad indeed," added Kemode.

Torrents said: "In the past few years I have dealt with numerous wine companies and Enotria has always been in my list of outstanding suppliers. There is a bright future ahead of Enotria and I want to take their talented and experienced buying team on the journey of excelling at creative thinking, commercial acumen and unlimited passion."

Torrents starts his new role with Enotria next week.
