Heritage Wine to distribute Darling Cellars

Published:  30 November, 2011

Gloucestershire based Heritage Wine, has announced it is to distribute South African producer Darling Cellars premium varietal wines in the UK.

The initial offer will be its Chenin Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinotage, Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon under the exclusive Mamre Vale label.

Darling Cellars was established in 1996 in the Western Cape as an alliance between 20 growers.

The Cellars has access to 1300 hectares of vineyards and produces a range of distinctive wines bottled under the recently recognized designation, 'Wine of Origin, Darling'.

It enjoys a wide diversity of geology and similarly varied landscapes; vineyard plantings benefit from the proximity of the Atlantic coast and the cooling on-shore breezes.

Low yields and bush-vine pruning contributes to the characters of the Darling wines and the land is tended sympathetically, with due regard for the conservation of flora and fauna in accordance with the WWF's Biodiversity & Wine Initiative.

Guy Adams, managing director of Heritage Wine, says: "We've been looking for another forward-thinking South African producer to complement our key agency Bergsig so we can offer exclusive wines with unrivalled quality-price ratio that target the most competitive section of the wine list."
