Heritage Wine is to distribute South African cool climate producer Darling Cellars' premium varietal wines in the UK.

Initially it has listed Chenin Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinotage, Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon under the Mamre Vale label.

Darling Cellars is a group of 20 growers which was established in 1996. It has access to 1,300 hectares of vineyards and produces a range of bottled wines under the recently recognised 'Wine of Origin, Darling' designation.

The region, located in the Western Cape, has diverse geology and landscapes, while vineyard plantings benefit from the on-shore breezes from the Atlantic coast.

Guy Adams, managing director of Heritage Wine, said: "We've been looking for another forward-thinking South African producer to complement our key agency Bergsig so we can offer exclusive wines with unrivalled quality-price ratio that target the most competitive section of the wine list."
