Sud de France to round off year with organic and biodynamic tasting

Published:  03 November, 2011

Sud de France is to round off its wine tasting year with an organic and biodynamic wine tasting.

Held on on November 23, at the Maison de la Région Languedoc-Roussillon, the tasting will showcase seventeen wineries, with additional wines from a further two producers.

In total 94 wines will be on show from Languedoc-Roussillon, including wines from Tavel and Lirac in the Gard departement at the extreme east of the region.

Isabelle Kanaan, executive director of Maison de la Région Languedoc-Roussillon, said: "The Languedoc-Roussillon region boasts the second greatest number of mixed organic farmers in France (2,200 estates).

"The development of this sector is a priority for the regional council, which supports the promotion of organic products through its Sud de France communication activities."

According to Agence Bio, in 2009, organic vineyards in France increased by 28%, from 39,000ha to reach 50,268ha and currently represent over 6% of the total French vineyards.
