Mike Paul to leave Southcorp

Published:  23 July, 2008

Time's up on ten year tenure

Mike Paul, the 51-year-old head of Southcorp Europe, is to leave the company at the end of the year. In an exclusive interview with Harpers, he said: "It is ten years since I joined Southcorp and I just feel I want to do something else. "It is an exciting, amazing business and more exciting than ever. I have no intention of moving outside the wine trade." Paul told staff at Southcorp's office last Tuesday. No successor has been appointed. Paul, a widely liked and respected figure in the wine trade, has overseen the growth of Southcorp from a 2 million to 80 million a year company. Selling 3.5 million cases of Penfolds, Lindemans, James Herrick, Seaview, Wynns, Coldstream Hills and Seppelt, Southcorp is the largest importer of wine into the UK by turnover. "Southcorp has a great team in Twickenham and one of my regrets is leaving such a team that is not just good, but also fun."
