Spotlight on wine fraud in TV programme

Published:  07 February, 2011

The spotlight is being turned on wine fraud in a BBC programme tonight.

BBC London's Inside Out reporting team has spent six months investigating wine fraud, and features intervies from Berry Brothers & Rudd and wine fraud journalist Jim Budd, who keeps track of allegedly unscrupulous operators via his website.

A spokesman for Berry Brothers told the BBC there had been "unprecedented growth" in wine investment over the past 18 months, leading to "ridiculous returns".

A group of wine investors who have spent more than £50,000 on wine they never received in the past two years, will also be interviewed.

The programme will be aired on BBC London at 7.30pm, but will be available on iPlayer from tomorrow.
