Bartender Colin McMillan of Three Judges in Glasgow was announced the Glenfiddich Malt Mastermind of the Year in the competition's inaugural year.

Eight bartenders from around the UK took part in the final held at Boisdale of Bishopsgate, hosted by brand ambassador Jamie Milne. Competitors had to create a new Glenfiddich serve, answer a category questionnaire, write tasting notes for the Glenfiddich 12, 15 and 18 Year Old and have an interview with Milne, Andy Corris, senior brand manager at First Drinks and business account manager Ian Murray.

The on-trade competition was launched to find the trade's most passionate malt enthusiasts. McMillan wins £1000, a trophy and a VIP trip to the Glenfiddich distillery.

Milne said: "We have been very impressed with the standard of all the contenders who have come from established high-end bars such as Albannach and China Tang through to specialist pubs like the Pot Still in Glasgow. This was not just a mixology competition but a quest to find a real Glenfiddich and Scotch Malt Whisky advocate."
