Chester Grosvenor and Spa opens wine cellar to diners

Published:  12 November, 2010

The Chester Grosvenor and Spa has extended its fine dining area by opening its working wine cellar to diners.

The five-star luxury hotel has one of the most comprehensive wine cellars in the UK which pre-dates its opening in 1865 and currently stocks almost 10,000 bottles of wine and Champagne.

The Riedel Cellar at The Chester Grosvenor will offer bespoke menus designed by Michelin star chef Simon Radley and his team.

Managing director Jonathan Slater said bringing together a fine dining experience in a working wine cellar is a first for the North West.

"This is about creating new experiences for people here at The Chester Grosvenor.

"We have a fantastic full working cellar, and we do offer tours of it as well as wine tasting experiences, but we wanted to take it one step further.

"People find eating and drinking in unusual surroundings interesting and this is distinctive, memorable and creative."
