Buckley leaves Oddbins

Staff changes on Oddbins buying team will see Julie Buckley, leave the company and promotions for its two other buyers.

Buckley who has been with the company for seven years has decided to pursue other business opportunities and will leave on February 5, 2010.

She began her career in the company's London shops, before moving into the buying department. She said: "My time at Oddbins has been extremely rewarding and has given me a tremendous breadth of experience within the trade. I am delighted to have been part of the buying team under the ownership of Simon Baile and Henry Young. It has been particularly satisfying to see that our work together over the last eighteen months has finally put Oddbins back on track to be the best wine retailer in the UK. I look forward to watching Oddbins go from strength to strength."



Managing director, Simon Baile, thanked Julie for her commitment and her significant contribution to the business over the years. He said: "She has done much to shape the buying department and the range. She will be very much missed and we wish her all the best with her future endeavours and challenges."

Richard Verney, will now become, head of buying, and Claire Graham, senior buyer. Two new internal candidates Ana Sapungiu and Ben Gubbins have been appointed to the position of trainee buyers.

Oddbins has also appointed a new finance director, Des Cross, who was previously commercial director at Safeway Plc and until recently head of retail at Royal Sun Alliance.
