An Australian producer has released the first 100% certified carbon neutral brand of wines.

An Australian producer has released the first 100% certified carbon neutral brand of wines.

Clare Valley based Wakefield Wines, has worked with Provisor to develop the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) model to accurately measure the carbon dioxide or equivalent emissions at every step of its Eighty Acres range.

Independently certified by the Australian Federal Government, the cycle begins in the vineyard before harvesting and ends up with the consumption, disposal and recycling of the finished packaging.

Mitchell Taylor, managing director and winemaker said: "Wakefield Wines is a family owned company operating in both rural and urban environments. This direct link with the land, along with the long term view we hold for our business development, results in a commitment to operating in a manner that eliminates any negative impact on the environment."

The Eighty Acres wines have an RRP around £9.99 and are distributed by Stratford's Wine Agencies.

The 100% carbon neutral production is based on a life cycle assessment model compliant to ISO14044.
