Who do you see as the leading figures in the UK drinks industry and why?
Dan Jago at Tesco and Troy Christensen at Constellation are the two bull elephants in the jungle because of the power they yield. It'll be interesting to watch the tussle.

Who have been the biggest influencers in your career and why?
Hugh Johnson for his writing style and independence of spirit.
Edmund Penning-Rowsell for never being afraid to admit what he didn't know.

Who do you see as being the stars of the future and why?
I have been terribly impressed by the sheer commitment and enthusiasm of two young men in the fine wine trade: Mark Andrew of Roberson and Gareth Birchley of Bordeaux Index. Surely they are destined for great things, but I suspect there are dozens more young women and men like them.

What is the biggest leadership challenge facing the sector in 2010?
Making a decent profit.
