Former Moët & Chandon head winemaker Philippe Coulon has joined the Undurraga team as a consultant to strengthen its New World sparkling ranges.

Former Moët & Chandon head winemaker Philippe Coulon has joined the Undurraga team as a consultant to strengthen its New World sparkling ranges.  

Philippe Coulon, an agronomist and winemaker studied at Université de Montpellier in France and until recently was technical director for Moët & Chandon and previously head winemaker until 2005. 

At Moët & Chandon he was at the forefront of the company's international expansion, specifically the opening of new subsidiaries in Argentina, Brazil, California, Australia, Spain and Oporto, in Portugal.

Chilean brand Undurraga specify that one of its next milestones is to increase overall sparkling wine sales, build a cellar exclusively for its sparkling ranges, and work its plots much more rigorously.  The winery's general manager José Yuraszeck said: "We are convinced Philippe Coulon, a great French winemaker and expert in first class sparkling wine will support us with this great new Undurraga project. We are very happy to have the benefit of his great experience and advice."
