Australian wine brand Jacob's Creek has secured a listing at Selfridges for its 'museum release' Steingarten Riesling 2002, Pernod Ricard has announced.

The Riesling has a small production of 3 - 4,000 cases.

Philip Laffer, Chief Winemaker for Jacob's Creek, said of the 2002 listing: "As the winemaker, I'm delighted Selfridges have chosen to list one of my favourite vintages of this wine - it's great that lovers of Riesling will be able to obtain bottles from this special parcel, just at the beginning of its true development. As long as it is cellared correctly, this wine will be quite remarkable somewhere around 2020 and even more interesting thanks to its Stelvin closure, in 2042."

Selfridges Sommelier Dawn Davies said that the wine showed the ability of Australian Riesling to age.

"For consumers interested in trying something different, with a recession-friendly price-tag, this summer or for those who would like to invest in a wine that will keep improving, this wine is a superb choice."
