Vivat Bacchus introduce new restaurant line up

Published:  26 June, 2009

Farringdon's Vivat Bacchus unveils a new restaurant line up in the shape of a two-woman team.

Bernine Van Schoor takes the role of restaurant manager, alongside Laura Ward formerly of Jamie Oliver's Fifteen restaurant as assistant head sommelier.

Van Schoor, a South African native, is returning to Vivat Bacchus where she previously worked for four years.

She has since spent two years with Michelin starred chef Atul Kochhar as the restaurant manager of his Benares and Vatika restaurants.

Gerrie Knoetze, proprietor of Vivat Bacchus, said: "Bernine and Laura are a breath of fresh air for our City clients looking to relax and enjoy our renowned South African hospitality.

"Both have worked at the highest levels in the industry, and have extensive knowledge of the food and wine that is at the heart of Vivat Bacchus."

Following its launch five years ago in Farringdon, Vivat Bacchus opened a sister restaurant, grill and bar in London Bridge. Co-owned and run by South African Gerrie Knoetze, Vivat Bacchus hosts over 20,000 bottles of wine and four walk-in cheese rooms between the two restaurants.
