Madrid wines come to London

Published:  29 June, 2009

The first London tasting of wines from Vinos de Madrid will be held at Century Club, Soho on July 1.

The Magic of Madrid tasting of chosen wines from the CRDO (Consejo Regulador Denominacion de Origen) Vinos de Madrid will highlight wines it believes are suitable for the UK market - with particular interest for independents and the on-trade.

Eight wineries will present their ranges along with a tutord tasting from Spanish wine specialist, John Radford.

Madrid is one of only two world capitals to lend its name to an appellation. Vinos de Madrid was formally awarded DO status in 1990 and is made up of 45 boutique wineries, producing wines from Spanish varieties - such as tempranillo, garnacha and torrontes - and indigenous Madrilenian varieties, malvar and albillo.

The Magic of Madrid tasting and seminar will take place at the Century Club, 61 - 63 Shaftsbury Avenue, London W1D 6LG from 10am to 5pm on July 1. For further information contact Westbury Communications on 020 7751 9170 or email vinosdemadrid@westburycom.co.uk
