Published:  23 July, 2008

Australia's BRL Hardy Limited and South Africa's Stellenbosch Vineyards Limited have announced a joint-venture. The arrangement will create a new branded wine from Stellenbosch Vineyards, which will be marketed in Europe through BRL Hardy's European sales and marketing network. BRL Hardy's managing director, Stephen Millar, said: It is in line with our strategy of establishing BRL Hardy as one of the world's leading international producers and marketers of wine, and we are very pleased to have Stellenbosch Vineyards as our partner in South Africa. We looked at a number of potential partners in South Africa,' he added, but felt that the visions of Stellenbosch Vineyards and BRL Hardy are closely aligned.' BRL Hardy is the second largest wine company in Australia, while Stellenbosch Vineyards is a privately-owned major producer, marketer and bottler of South African wines. The company produces around 850,000 cases annually of regional wine for the export and domestic markets, sourcing grapes from approximately 2,000 hectares of vineyards in Stellenbosch, one of South Africa's premium wine growing regions.
