Budweiser's Vietnamese distributor expands

Published:  23 July, 2008

The Gannon Group, which distributes Anheuser-Busch's premium lager Budweiser in Vietnam (see Harpers.co.uk June 9 2008), has announced details of a new brewery development near Ho Chi Minh City.

Some $90 million (45.2m) is to be invested in the new brewery, according to an announcement from the Vietnam Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, US Secretary of Commerce Carlos Gutierrez and Gannon Chief Executive Officer Walter Blocker made last week (pictured).

Blocker commented: "Vietnam is one of the fastest growing beverage markets in the world, and beer is leading that charge.

"In a country where demand - especially for premium products - is surging, it's imperative that it be in a position to supply. We have the experience and know-how to assist."

Gannon already owns and operates a 20,000-square-metre beverage factory in Dong Nai Province.
