Alsace wine sales hit 149.7m bottles

In 2007, sales of Alsace wines, all AOCs combined, reached 1 122 570 hl (149.7 million bottles).

This was an increase of 0.8% compared to 2006, while pre-tax value rose by 3% (494.2 million).?

This rise in volume was due to strengthened export sales (+2.1% in overseas markets against +0.4% on the domestic market) and to increased sales of Crmant d'Alsace both on the French and export markets (+ 8.4% overall from one year to the other).

Principal overseas markets for still Alsace wines:

With 22.8% of Alsace exports by volume and 18.6% by value, Belgium remains the leading market for still Alsace wines.

The United Kingdom, in 6th place, progressed by 2.4% in volume with 12 800 hl, and by 7.9% in value.
