Barcardi, Brown-Forman and Remy Cointreau extend US distribution

Barcardi, Brown-Forman and Remy Cointreau have announced they are expanding their US distribution alliance.

The expansion will include the states of California and Texas and follows the three companies' deal with Empire Merchants in May 2007.

John P Esposito, president and chief executive officer of Bacardi USA, said: "These dedicated selling divisions in these two key US markets will provide an excellent platform for our world class brands. We will improve our efficiency and effectiveness and present an enviable portfolio of category leading products for our customers."

James L Bareuther, chief operating officer of Brown-Forman, said combining distribution across the three portfolios helped brand building in vital markets.

Thomas F Jensen, president and chief executive officer of Remy Cointreau USA, said: "This expanding distribution alliance gives our three companies the breadth of a combined portfolio that includes outstanding leaders in every category, while allowing each company to uphold its respective commitment to remaining independent."
