Kyndal, the management buyout of Jim Beam Brands (Harpers, 26 October), has teamed up with Shaw Wallace, India's second largest liquor producer, which has a dominant share in the premium sector of the Indian market. Shaw Wallace will be able to bottle Scotch and manufacture under licence other brands supplied by Kyndal in India. It will have access to Kyndal's manufacturing facilities and distribution network. Kyndal - with brands such as Whyte & Mackay, Dalmore, Vladivar vodka and Glayva - will assist in reviewing Shaw Wallace's manufacture and blending processes. The recent Candean Global Whisk(e)y Report (Harpers, 14 December) predicted that India will overtake the US as the world's largest volume market for whisky by the end of 2001.
