Some 10,000 attendees are expected at the 2008 Unified Wine & Grape Symposium in Sacramento.

Lyndie Boulton, executive director at the American Society for Enology and Viticulture (ASEV), said no other industry gathering was on this scale of magnitude.

Karen Ross, president of the California Association of Winegrape Growers (CAWG) - which co-hosts the event - commented on the Symposium also.

Ross said: "This is our 14th year of putting on the event which has grown from a rather small gathering to the huge event it is today, with people attending from virtually every wine-producing region of the world."

Peter Hayes will be taking at the conference on the topic of A World of Wine Issues'.
