Kick off for Aussie producer

Published:  23 July, 2008

Australian producer, Andrew Peace, has signed a sponsorship deal with rugby's Super League for the 2008 season worth 85,000.

Peace hopes to reach more than 1.5million viewers with the pitch-side advertising boards at fifteen Super League matches broadcast live on Sky Sports with highlights on the BBC.

In 2007 sales increased 25% by volume and 36.5% by value, helped by the launch of its wine in a one-litre Tetrapak. It's average bottle price increased by 15 pence to 3.89 and from next week, the Co-op will have its limited release range selling at 6.99.

The rugby sponsorship marks the start of more involvement in the UK market, according to its UK importer Bottle Green.

It hopes to launch its new website www.apwines.com at the end of the month as well as attend the Australia day tasting and the Good Food Show.

A Bottle Green spokeswoman said: "The rugby deal was a bit different and it identifies with the down-to-earth and honest people who drink his wine."
