UK still the key market for Australia

The UK is Australia's biggest wine export market in both volume and value, buying in 281 million litres of wine worth 415m.

The US is close behind, importing 220m litres of Australian wine valued at 409m, followed by Canada, with 49m litres at 113m.

But by value, Canada is soon to be overtaken by China, importing 23m litres of Australian wine worth $49m.

Australian wine exports rose to new records in the 2006/07 financial year. Value increased 7% to 1.28 billion and, despite a volume drop of 3% to 8%, 798m litres were exported.
