Famous Grouse extends visitor centre

Published:  23 July, 2008

Scotch producer The Famous Grouse has improved its tourism facilities by opening up a room previously closed to the public.

Warehouse No. 9 is a specially-built sample room within a bonded warehouse full of maturing whisky casks, and gives visitors a feel for the environment in which the whisky ages.

Groups of up to 12 people can visit the centre at Crieff in Perthshire, and indulge in in a tutored nosing and tasting, which forms part of the distillery's new whisky school.

Beth McMillan, marketing manager of The Famous Grouse Experience, said: "We hope that this new experience will inspire customers to tell others about this unique place and that they leave feeling that they've sampled some very special whiskies.

The Experience is the only place in the world to sell the entire malt range produced by The Famous Grouse - now it is the only place in the world where you can sample it from the cask."
