Published:  23 July, 2008

Distribution for Australian producer McGuigan Simeon Wines has moved to WaverleyTBS, ending a 14-year partnership with Vinoceros.

WaverleyTBS, the UK's largest wine distributor, takes exclusive control of McGuigan Simeon's portfolio, including core ranges

McGuigan Black Label,

Tempus Two and Genus 4.

Announcing the new partnership, Jeff Jamet, WaverleyTBS MD, said: Not only does this deal expand our wine portfolio for our customers, it also enriches our offer and gives us a platform for growth into new trade channels. It is a genuine win-win deal for both of us.'

McGuigan Simeon CEO, Dane Hudson confirmed that WaverleyTBS would continue the 14-year commitment to maintaining the McGuigan Black Label range as an independent-only brand.

New Zealand's Sacred Hill has teamed up with D&D Wines International for representation in the UK and Ireland. Lewis Jones, marketing director of D&D, said: Sacred Hill has established estate vineyards in the leading grape-growing regions of Marlborough, Hawkes Bay and Central Otago. This, combined with its focus on the highest quality standards, gives us an excellent opportunity to make Sacred Hill a leading New Zealand brand in the UK.'

Vina Terranoble of Chile, formerly represented by Matthew Clark, has appointed Pimlico Cellars Agencies as new agents. The wines come from the Colchagua, Casablanca and Maule valleys, and Pimlico says they will add an extra dimension to its existing portfolio of Chilean wineries, especially with the demand for wines representing the diversity of Chilean geography and viticulture.

PLB is the new distributor for the wines of Marlborough producer Winegrowers of Ara to the on- and off-trade.

PLB's marketing manager, Claire Summersby, said: We've been looking to take on a premium New Zealand producer for some while, in order to capitalise on the rapid growth of these wines in the UK market - 18% year-on-year growth in what is currently a stagnant light wine market.'

Winegrowers of Ara was established in 2001 and currently has 230 hectares under vine, with a focus on Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir. Dr Damian Martin oversees viticulture and winemaking, and was previously employed by Montana and Corbins.

Domaine du Tariquet has reorganised its on-trade distribution in the UK, appointing France Domaines as its new agent from 1 February. France Domaines specialises in French wines and sells ex-cellar.
