2007 predictions: another tough year

We asked key figures in the UK wine trade for their predictions for 2007. This is what they said:

'With the take-home market stagnant, it needs an injection of innovation to create consumer interest. Consumers will continue to buy heavily on promotion, but deep discounting has become the norm now. And how about a national wine weekend? We always sell out of Gewrztraminer or Dornfelder at consumer events, but it's difficult to get shelf space.'
