Wine educator is new fizz ambassador

Whitehead took the Grand Prix Europen des Ambassadeurs du Champagne, beating seven other finalists in the process. The five-day event took place in Epernay, with a series of tours and tastings, culminating with each finalist giving a presentation and answering questions from a nine-strong panel of judges, this year on the theme of terroir'.

Whitehead said: Participating in this competition was an extraordinary experience - and to actually win it, I feel like I am walking on air!'

The award was set up by the Comit Interprofessionnel du Vin de Champagne last year to recognise and reward the work of wine lecturers and teachers around Europe.
