Published:  23 July, 2008

The organisers of the Wine In The Name of Peace - a Lebanese/Israeli wine tasting event which was due to take place on Wednesday 16 August at Vinopolis on London's South Bank, have announced that it has been cancelled.

The tasting was due to have some of the best wine producers from both countries. From Israel: Dalton, Mount Tabor and Recanati Winery among many others. From Lebanon: Chateau Musar, Chateau Kefraya, Nakad and others.

Illi Adato of www.wine.is, said: 'After much interest, enthusiasm and indeed many confirmations from wineries

on both side of the border, the Lebanese participants decided to pull out.

'We have all agreed that the idea will wait until calm is restored. In a nutshell: I still believe that wine transcends politics, maybe not so much so during war.

'Keep well & safe,' he concluded.
