Make Ramsay's a double Glenfiddich

Published:  23 July, 2008

Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay proved that personality counts as he picked up two accolades at the recent Glenfiddich Food & Drink Awards.

GQ readers voted him into top position for the GQ/Glenfiddich Food & Drink Personality, and Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares took the prize for best TV programme, beating Jamie Oliver's Jamie's Great Escape into second place.

Barny Haughton was also honoured for his work supporting organic food, sustainable agriculture and community food education, and he went away with the Independent Spirit Award.

Haughton's lastest project, Bordeaux Quay, will continue his eco-friendly philosophy, and all the food served on the Bristol premises will come from within a 50-mile radius.

There was no award given to a restaurant critic this year due to sub-standard entries. An awards spokesperson said: The people who had entered seemed to have sent in very ordinary stuff.'
